There comes a day that the movers arrive

It is time for our house hold goods to leave Misawa.  Luckily we already purged with the help of the Marie Kondo method, so it was a matter of sorting all our items into three shipments; the slow shipment to Oklahoma (HHG and the largest shipment), the quick shipment to Oklahoma (Unaccompanied Baggage leaving in June, mostly the essentials for everyday living), and our suitcases that we will live out of for two months while traveling in Utah and before all our things arrive in Oklahoma.  We do not have a lot of extra room to sort here so we spent two days just shifting things around.  Bub got moved out of his room and it became the "safe" zone.  We also marked with blue X's the things that are staying for later shipments.  I hope that the blue X's will cross the language barrier or else we will be in trouble.

As I was shifting things, it was hard not to be nostalgic.  There is this interesting mix of emotions- a disconnect from things going on here because we will not be part of it in the future, and a bitter sweet longing for all the memories we have made over our three years.  Josh was saying that if it is not hard to leave, that means that we did really "live" here.  I always experience a loss mixed with the anticipation for the future.

First day in Misawa, June 26, 2016- Bear (10), Bub (7), Pants (5)
Oh, look how much we have grown!  Bear (13), Bub (10), Pants (8).  And it is time to add another plank to our sign!

  1. I can't believe all your kids are baptized! That's crazy! And your good spirit and commitment to be, really be, wherever you are is inspiring. I love your sign!

  2. I am afraid you have a ways to go before all of your kids are baptized! And our sign is soon to be outdated! I am sure I will fix that whenever I find it in the many boxes.
